[[What Watson believed was going to happen was nothing but Sherlock perhaps entering another cab close to the one he now occupied with Mary. That he’d use the same cab they sat in never crossed his mind. It possibly should have for this was Sherlock, after all, who felt no shame to sneak himself…
Hands stuffed deep within his pockets, John hesitated for a little moment to appreciate the fact Sherlock always thought to make up for a fight meant to do whatever would please John. A couple of weeks ago, it was the mere fact to make him Coffee…… no, no, it was on experiment’s purpose too, John corrected himself mentally. Although now opening the cab door for the man, the doctor climbed inside and his fingers played with a lose thread of his jumper.
„You can cook?“
John had to say he felt mildly surprised at this new kind of information.
„As long as you don’t cook the eyeballs you keep stuffed in this jar in the fridge, you can as well cook tonight.“ Humour played along in his voice and John avoided eye-contact with the taller man as much as possible. It did of course not pass him by how, apart from the eyeball-bit, their conversation sounded like that of a married couple who discussed who occupied the kitchen for tonight’s supper.
„Look, you don’t need to keep apologizing, I told you that before. I’m fine with one sorry. As long as you show me that you can learn from your mistakes, I’m good.“
Sherlock never looked so.. upset before. Not since the Baskerville incident and Sherlock highly doubted his own senses. Right now, he had no reason to doubt them, had he?
A sort of worry displayed on John’s features and his gaze never left Sherlock’s profile. He was horrible in making deductions, unlike his flatmate. But knowing Sherlock like he did, John knew something was off, something the dark haired man did not feel like sharing.
But I want to be more than just your brother.
